# Business financing benchmarks

> Match financing benchmarks to term loans, equipment, invoice and other business-finance structures.

Business financing covers several contractual structures. Select a product cohort before aggregating performance. Route receivables-based advances to [MCA](https://docs.amlok.io/research/industries/business/mca.md) and short-term operating liquidity to [working capital](https://docs.amlok.io/research/industries/business/working-capital.md).

## Product-specific measures

| Product | Primary measures | Evidence needed |
| - | - | - |
| Term loan | Payment burden, coverage, arrears and loss | Schedule, outstanding balance, supported cash flow and performance history. |
| Equipment finance | Payment coverage, asset exposure and recovery | Asset identity, valuation, contract, security evidence and realized recoveries. |
| Invoice finance | Eligible receivables, dilution, debtor concentration and collections | Invoice ledger, credit notes, disputes, payment allocations and eligibility rules. |
| Revolving credit | Utilization, borrowing-base headroom and draw availability | Commitment, drawn balances, eligible collateral and documented restrictions. |

For invoice finance, define dilution as eligible reductions such as credits or disputes against a stated invoice cohort. Do not count ordinary invoice payment as dilution or treat an unpaid but not-yet-due invoice as delinquent.

## Public benchmark sources

The [ISED Credit Conditions Survey](https://www.ised-isde.canada.ca/site/sme-research-statistics/en/survey-data-and-analysis/credit-conditions-survey) provides Canadian financing-demand and access context. It does not give a common default threshold for every financing structure. Use the [public-source inventory](https://docs.amlok.io/research/canadian-data.md) to identify further source units and acquisition status.

A product-level loss comparison needs mature repayment or collection outcomes. Public facility announcements alone cannot supply them. Preserve exposure, contractual structure, jurisdiction and vintage in any external comparison.

## AMLOK evaluation

Test contract classification before applying a calculation. Evaluate invoice-to-payment matching, asset or debtor identity, schedule reconstruction and source-backed eligibility calculations. Score each task separately before combining it in an underwriting assessment.

Compare models within the same product cohort. Report calibration and economic error under the observed repayment structure, including prepayments and restructurings. For Signal, measure changes in eligible collateral, collections and utilization without adding collection actions or servicing tasks.

Use the [financial analysis methods](https://docs.amlok.io/research/financial-analysis.md) and [evaluation protocol](https://docs.amlok.io/research/evaluation.md).
