AMLOK’s source review retrieved original public financing disclosures and inspected what can actually be extracted. The findings below are observations about those records. They establish source feasibility and concrete research cases; they do not imply completed borrower-outcome validation.

Initial source inspection

This table records the initial 0.2 inspection. The subsequent 0.3 collection expands SBA to six complete releases and Québec to 1,017 intervention rows, with 993 amounts recovered, and adds complete scoped HMDA and SEC releases. The initial checks below remain reproducible against their original snapshots. The acquisition manifest records file sizes, dates, URLs and SHA-256 hashes. Source-analysis output records counts and checks. The record index provides 1,047 reproducible source observations with page/row locations and field availability. These observations are not adjudicated distinct facilities. Do not sum different source units into a deal total.

Canadian program scale without invented loan rows

The CSBFP source release reports 214,158 loans over the 27 inspected fiscal years. The local calculation sums the English annual loan-count column and reconciles it with the published total. The source also contains a French presentation of the same figures; counting both would double the population. This dataset supports program-scale and period analysis. It does not expose 214,158 borrower identities, individual balances or transaction histories. The published loan-value total is CAD 30,523,393.5 thousand; summing the displayed annual values gives CAD 30,523,393.4 thousand. Preserve this CAD 0.1 thousand discrepancy rather than silently changing the source, and distinguish it from the exact reconciliation of loan counts. Claims paid during a fiscal year cannot be divided by that year’s new loans and interpreted as a cohort default rate without matching vintages and definitions.

Signed Canadian support with explicit amount bands

The captured EDC table contains signing date, country, counterparty, purpose, industry, sector of interest, cleantech indicator, product, description, CAD amount band and Canadian company. The captured page includes financing, guarantees and equity; those product types must remain distinct. For example, the September 22, 2026 record for Prémoulé Inc. identifies Canada, manufacturing, a guarantee and a CAD 1 million to under CAD 5 million band. That supports a signed-support observation, not a claim of CAD 3 million cash disbursed. EDC describes publication after signing, normally within 90 days, so historical availability must not be backdated to signing. See its reporting policy.

A financing event with use-of-proceeds evidence

Kinross’s March 7, 2022 announcement states a USD 1 billion, three-year term loan maturing March 7, 2025. It states that proceeds repaid drawings associated with the Great Bear acquisition and identifies lead arrangers. This supports a borrower, product, currency, principal, term, maturity, use-of-proceeds and arranger extraction case. The announcement does not supply a complete amortization ledger, bank descriptors or a later performance outcome. Preserve the fact that the earlier revolving balance and new term loan describe refinancing rather than two independent revenue inflows.

Conditional capacity is not funded cash

Lundin Mining’s February 26, 2026 disclosure describes an amended USD 4.5 billion revolving facility maturing February 26, 2031. Initial access is USD 2.25 billion; later stages depend on conditions. The stated pricing is adjusted term SOFR plus a margin of 1.45% to 2.50%. The extraction target therefore separates total commitment, initial availability, conditional stages, maturity, floating-rate basis and spread. The correct output does not report USD 4.5 billion as drawn cash. An amendment remains linked to the original facility rather than counted as an unrelated new borrower.

Balance-sheet reconciliation from an original table

The BCE annual financial report, printed page 76 / PDF page 78, supplies the following December 31, 2025 committed-facility totals in CAD millions: The arithmetic reconciles: 6,393 - 1,409 - 71 - 2,550 = 2,363. This is a directly checkable extraction-and-calculation case. A parser must preserve the table’s unit, reporting date and distinctions between drawn amounts and other uses of capacity. It must not treat net availability as cash already held.

A real visual-extraction failure

The Investissement Québec intervention PDF visibly contains company, financing amount and assistance type. However, the inspected text extraction omitted the amount digits for five selected rows on PDF page 2 even though the rendered page showed them. The visually read amounts for those rows are 375,000; 75,000; 1,000,000; 2,075,000; and 1,616,250. The diagnostic checks whether their digits are recoverable from the extracted page text. It is a five-cell development probe, not an independently annotated OCR benchmark or an AMLOK accuracy claim. It demonstrates why a text-only pipeline needs an image/layout recovery path and field-completeness checks.

Loan status needs source-specific interpretation

The SBA dataset and dictionary expose approval, first disbursement, rate, term, industry and selected status fields. The dictionary identifies LocationID as a lender identifier, not a unique loan ID. It also describes an EXEMPT status for certain disbursed loans whose current status is withheld; that value cannot be interpreted as a known successful repayment outcome. The initial inspection used a byte prefix ending on a complete CSV row to check the schema. The expanded collection now preserves all six source releases. Supervised baseline results use a defined eligible cohort from those complete files. No individual borrower names or addresses are republished in the public prediction files.

Findings that shape the research

Real public financing data is available and useful. It supports document extraction, typed event classification, financial semantics, entity corroboration and selected relationship studies. Its limitations are specific: visibility is uneven, records overlap, some amounts are conditional or banded, publication can lag, and a PDF’s text layer can omit visible values. The next acquisition stages should expand source and period coverage while retaining these semantics. The benchmark must test those difficult cases, not only clean records. Public-record availability does not establish access to the private multi-source transaction histories needed for a complete borrower cash-flow model.
